Transmission fluid does a lot of work and wears out over time. Servicing it on schedule is one of the cheapest ways to protect an expensive part of your car.
Why it matters
Automatic transmission fluid breaks down with heat and use. Old fluid can cause rough or delayed shifts and, over time, wear the transmission itself. A repair or replacement transmission is one of the most expensive jobs on a car, so servicing the fluid on schedule is money well spent.

When to book
Book a transmission service if you're at the interval in your logbook, if shifts feel rough or delayed, or if you tow regularly. Towing and heavy loads heat the fluid up and wear it faster, so those cars often need it sooner.
